- How would you describe your style of tattooing?
I do abstract black work, with thin lining and combinations of dots and rough shading. I’m interested in reinterpreting textures and forms from nature and her creatures with a spiritual or sacred touch. I like to combine realistic elements with my inner fantasy world. My illustrations, drawings and tattoos are an evolving practice, and I like to research and learn new techniques from other artists and tattooists. I love to read about nature and to channel this knowledge into art.
- Out of all the tattoos you’ve done, what are some of your favourites and why?
Recently, I have drawn a goddess face for a friend and tattooed it in collaboration with an artist whose work I admire. He added a red ribbon around her neck and the final result was beyond my expectations. I loved to see my own art being transformed through someone else’s vision. Since I love goddesses, my second favourite is a female-bodied demon with four wings and three bird’s heads. She was one of my earliest tattoos and I still love and remember her. My last pick would be a unicorn head I have made on my partner’s arm. I see it every day and the tattoo reminds me how much I love him.
- If you could tattoo anyone you wanted, who would it be?
My mum, she dislikes tattoos, but I hope she will change her mind one day. It would be my way to thank her for everything she has done for me and for giving me life. If I have to pick a celebrity, I would definitely pick Leonardo Di Caprio – he was my first love and he is doing so much amazing work now.
- What does tattooing mean to you?
Tattooing means freedom and self-expression. The freedom to live as an artist and to be my own boss. But also, while tattooing, the freedom of being fully centred and in the present moment. Tattooing is a field of self-expression where our bodies become the canvas and tell stories of our lives and ourselves. I see my role as a facilitator who helps others to match their outside with their inside world. This is an intimate process and a personal moment of sharing with each person who I tattoo. The conversations and connections that come out of these situations make me love my work even more.
- What inspires you creatively
Animals, spirits and nature. As a kid, I used to draw animals, watch animal documentaries and play Pokémon all the time. At home, I have countless drawings of creatures I have invented. I want my art to be mystical, mysterious, a little bit dark, but also full of beauty. I mostly draw animals and other living creatures from plankton to spirit monsters. I try to see the divine side in animals and transfer in on paper and skin. I want my work to connect us with the uniqueness of each individual creature.
- Tell us something unusual about yourself
I am a Swiss mountain boy in my heart, who loves French romantic books and Pokémon games, secretly in a one sided relationship with Lana Del Rey
